This had to have been one of my favorite classes first semester. If not for the entire year. Sure I didn’t do all of my homework, but it was fun exploring my creativity. It’s too bad I hadn’t taken Creative Writing 1 during my sophmore or junior year. I could be in Creative Writing 2. That would have been fun. I liked writing poetry, short stories, complaint letters, newspapers, etc! I did rather enjoy the newspaper though. It was fun to write articles about Left 4 Dead 2. Bob the Boomer was just too much fun. Also finding pictures just made my day. Nothing like mixing in video games with school. But seriously, it’s a shame Creative Writing isn’t a full year course. It’s always a class to look forward to and I really will miss it.
Memoir Reflection
I really enjoyed writing memoirs. It allowed me to sit back, relax, and think about past events in my life. Some pretty, other’s not so much. Of course I didn’t exaclty do my memoir assignment, but I certainly thought about it. I had fun researching my name, and past events on my birthday. It was also interesting finding out Jessica is Hebrew. Of anything, I didn’t expect that. I’d already knew that Jessica meant ‘Gift from god.’ But it was a pain when I realized how many Jessica’s there were out there. No wonder why you can’t ever have just one. I laughed while writing my traditions paper. Of course I knew my mother would have killed me if she saw it. She doesn’t like family ‘secrets’ being told. Oh well, if she every see’s it she’ll live.
A Movie Birthday
This is a memoir based on me and my sister sneaking into Sweeny Todd. Well, sort of. We just got really lucky. A Movie Birthday
Faulkner Vs. Hemingway
Faulkner’s style of writing is heavy in detail. He tells you how it is in words. If the dress is red, he say’s it’s the color of scarlet with white lace. If it’s a beautiful sunset, he say’s they sky was pink, purple, and red.
Hemingway’s style of writing is simple and straight to the point. He likes you to paint the picture in your own mind. If the dress is red, he say’s it’s red. If it’s a beautiful sunset, he say’s it’s a beautiful sunset
I like writing like faulkner with detail, not with big words though. I enjoy reading more like Hemingway Because too much like Faulkner and I want to fall asleep. I feel that short sentences with simple words can be more powerful then ones without. It makes things clear and to the point in return making them very dramatic.
Gothic Horror Reflection
I liked the ‘gothic horror fiction’ section of the course. I found it interesting that so many short stories can be considered gothic horror. Some of course were typical like ‘Tell-Tale Heart’ others were questionable like “The Lottery”. But the romantic qualities that were also added into gothic horror fiction were interesting; Candles, Castles, and Lace Cloth. When it came to the short stories or gothic horror, I chose a short story. I didn’t exactly feel like adding in gothic horror elements. I’m sure zombies could have been an element, but I was just worried I didn’t have enough elements in it. You can judge for yourself in my story “A Zombie Nightmare.
Poetry Reflection
Poetry has always been one of my favorite subjects. I love to writ it, I love to read it. I enjoy the challenge that it brings with it. It is also an escape for my emotions as emo as that sounds. My best pieces are when I’m in a state of near emotional breakdown. I just let the words flow. My work is often free formalthough I end up rhyming it anyway. I just like how I can writ something, post it, and let people come up with their own thoughts on what it means. It can seem totally random but when you dissect it, it makes perfect sense. Whenever I’m asked to write something it’s a little bit hard unless I have something big on my mind. Like I said before, it’s an escape for emotions where I can share it with everyone without giving off the real truth. I kind of find it as a hoby. Not something I wiould do for work, but just for fun. I did rather enjoy the poetry course because it opened me up to some different ideas. For example, bending the laws of poetry like e. e. cummings. His work was amazing even though people told him that it wasn’t poetry. He would take people inside and explain every last line and, or detail until they couldn’t do anything at all and have to accept that it was a work of art. It was poetry. there are different forms and rules you have to do to follow that form, but other than that it’s discrestion advised.
Short Story Reflection
I enjoyed making character sketches and making town sketches. I though it was fun to have to find a picture of a person, name them, and give them identities. I also liked the one day when we were shown pictures of towns and we had to give that an identity. I think my favorite was ‘Little India’ especially since that town was actually in India.
I also liked when we started writing a story and then passed it back to our neighbors. It was funny to see what crazy stories everyone came up with. Most of them were dark, spooky, or quite disturbed.
It was fun writing so many stories even if half the time they didn’t make sense. Especially when we rolled the dice to swee what element we were to put in. Mine worked perfectly except for the fact of adding a spider.
I loved all the movies that we watched also. It was fun to look out for symbolism. I think my favorite one had to be ‘The Lottery’. I remember watching it in English as a sophmore. It’s so full of symbolism and now I’m afraid of black dots.
Writing a short story for the class was fun too, but it got old for me. I wouldn’t change a thing on what you do, but after awhile I just got bored. Although I did add zombies so that I could have something in my story that I love.
So over all I enjoyed this part of the course. I think I enjoyed it more then poetry, but it’s a close tie.

Newspaper Reflection
I really enjoyed the newspaper section of the class. It was way fun making my own cover for a newspaper. I liked the fact that we could do it on our own theme. I enjoy video games and so that’s what gave me my idea. It was kind of frustrating following the layout though. I had to print off several papers of my first article. After doing that I kind of got an idea for the rest of it. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. It was also annoying when I didn’t have a glue stick! I had to tape it. It didn’t matter much because it was going to be scanned, but I wasn’t happy. My friend Austin helped me make it look better. Yes I know that was random. Also what was frustrating was when I came to place final touches on it here at school; I forgot to email an article to myself! Ugh. It’s alright though. It just left a little bit of a white space.
Another thing I found fun was the hilarious stories you would read off. The one about the poor widow receiving an email for a total stranger was so awesome. That will forever be stuck in my mind. It was also fun when we got to walk around and see what everyone else did. No offense, but seeing some of other peoples newspapers made me feel better about mine. It was creativity at its best. A lot of my friends got a kick out of mine because they play video games also, Especially Left 4 Dead. I just have this thing with zombies. While people write about things that you could run into in an everyday life, I find doing the abnormal is fun. It’s nice to be different.
Steam Community is actually various amounts of games. I just know Left 4 Dead the best. I couldn’t come up with a great title just off of Left 4 Dead though. That’s why I chose the title. Anyway, I really enjoyed this section, and I can’t wait to look or read everyone else’s in the library.
A Letter to Management
After an issue over rules, I emailed this letter to BC Management. Shortly after reporting this I received an apology to me and my friend. I was also told that further investigation was being made. On November 13
